PART III ASSURANCES

The Port of San Francisco has pledged its support and commitment to this project and has initiated a formal process with the Port Commission to officially endorse this project. Meetings with Port staff (real estate, engineering, health and safety) have resulted in encouragement to move this project forward. The Port has a strong history of working with the community in the southeast area of San Francisco to begin transforming underutilized parcels for public access, recreation and educational purposes.

At this time, the Port is unable to commit to a long-term contract for the proposed improvements, but is in the process of working with the The Hub Project and its partners to work out the details of a long-term commitment that coordinates their needs with the community's desire for public open space access.

In the interim, The Athena Project is willing to assume the responsibility of working with The Hub Project Partners to facilitate the formal partnership to secure assurances for long-term dedication to proposed site improvements.
